Way back in November 06 when my Web-Editor Boss (Israel) invited me to participate in Crocodopolis, we zapped a series of emails back and forth discussing what, if anything, 'croc-related news' could add to this site, and if in fact there was enough croc-specific news out there to make a separate ‘Croc News’ webpage worth while.

After feeling our way through a variety of concerns having to do with the limited time available to the two of us (which is still a problem); copyright concerns; and webpage program/ISP limitations; a 'work in progress' version of the croc news page developed as 'Crocodopolis grew'.  I’m pleased to report that the croc news effort has settled into a manageable ‘routine’ for the two of us and seems to have met with modest success and acceptance with you the readers.

Since we started to post crocodilian-related press items - to a the end of the August 07 offerings, Crocodopolis Croc News has featured ‘about’ 660 press items – 45-ish of which are in a language other than English (that’s about 6% of the total).

Bottom line: we’re managing to ‘average’ a posting of three croc-press items per day (not necessarily posted 'each day'), and manage to include a non-English item once a week!

Izzy and I have now found a balance within our inter-twined professional lives that allows a (more-or-less) continuous (albeit with intermittent army-induced gaps) coverage of the world-crocodilian.  Not withstanding technical gremlins that afflict all websites at the worst possible time, we should be able to maintain the variety and timeliness of coverage of international crocodilian press that you can come to expect from Crocodopolis!

It’s an honour to participate and contribute to such an august body of readers.

Respectfully;

Wes
