World's largest herp gathering

Crocodopolis and the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park will sponsor the Crocodilian Conservation Booth at the 2007 National Reptile Breeders Expo in the Daytona Beach, Florida, August 18 and 19.

The expo, the largest herpetological/herpetocultural gathering in the world, will feature the booth at the expo to be held at the Daytona Hilton Ocean Center. The sponsors will be raising funds for crocodilian conservation, offering photograph opportunities to expo visitors to pose with crocodilians such as an albino American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis). Photo ops will be available at a cost of $5.00 per person.

"We hope this opportunity to interact with these very special animals will attract expo guests and stimulate interest in the conservation issues of the endangered members of this order of reptiles, " said Israel Dupont, organizer of the event.

Visitors to the booth may also meet crocodilian specialists, and learn more about the organizations to benefit from the fundraising effort, namely the Association of Zoos & Aquarium's (AZA) Crocodilian Advisory Group and the Gharial Multi-Task Force.

The St. Augustine Alligator Farm, located in St. Augustine, Florida, is one of the oldest crocodilian attractions in the world, is accredited by the AZA, and is the only facility in the world that features all 23 species of crocodilians.
