Over 50 crocodile nesting sites Spotted in Orissa, India
Kendrapada (Orissa) : At least 53 crocodile nesting sites have been found in Orissa's Bhitarkanika national park, home to the largest population of giant salt water crocodiles in India. Officials made the discovery in the past week near the creeks and canals in the park in Kendrapada district. "At least 50-60 eggs were found in each nest," A. Mishra, a park official, said. The government has imposed a five-month ban, from May 15 to July 31, on entry of tourists to the park, about 170 km from Bhubaneswar, during the nesting and breeding season of the reptiles. http://www.indianmuslims.info/news/2007/may/23/over_50_crocodile_nesting 23 May 07 Gator roundup on Hilton Head Island Two alligators are scaring people away from Jarvis Creek Park on Hilton Head Island. Joe Maffo and his crew with Critter Management wrangled two, 8 foot alligators out of the park's pond Tuesday afternoon. Maffo says these alligators have to go because people keep feeding them, making them a danger to everyone at the park. "It's a danger when alligators are fed and start hanging around people," Maffo explained. "Someone could fall in the water while feeding the gator and the gator wouldn't understand the difference." http://www.wtoctv.com/Global/story.asp?S=6558576&nav=0qq6 23 May 07 Florida man's pet alligator gets him into trouble A Clay County man's pet alligator has him in trouble with wildlife officials. During the summer he can trap 10 to 20 nuisance alligators a week, he said. Earlier this month, he was called to trap a whopper on Walden Road near Interstate 10 and U.S. 90. The reptile measured at about 10 ft/3m in length. "It was becoming a little too familiar," said Lora Wiggins, a Walden Road resident, who witnessed the alligator lounging on the canal bank daily. http://www.tallahassee.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articleAID=/20070522/NEWS01/705220335/1010 21 May 07 Alligator captured inside NASA building An alligator, apparently bypassing 'security' entered NASA's KSC building and was subsequently captured and removed.
