A gator or just a catchy fish story?

It might still be lurking in the shallows of the weeds, but New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation officers couldn't find the 5-foot/ 1.5 metre alligator reportedly spotted in Melendy Pond.

John Jalbert said he hooked the reptile fishing.

The animal would not want to spend much time in the 50-degree water, an official said, because it's cold-blooded and needs warmth from the sun to survive. That's also why he believes any gator found in the area would have come from someone who kept it as a pet but released it when it grew too large to manage.

While alligators are uncommon in New Hampshire, this isn't the first time there have been sightings in the Nashua area.

8-foot gator found In Fla. kitchen,

But not on a plate

Sandra Frosti of Oldsmar, Florida wandered into her kitchen to find an unusual guest had arrived unannounced for breakfast. An 8-foot/ 2.4 metre alligator had torn through her screened back porch and entered the home through an open sliding glass door. It walked through the living room, down a hall and into the kitchen.

A trapper with Animal Capture of Florida caught the alligator. The gator was slightly injured during the scuffle when a plate was knocked to the ground, cutting the animal.

Large gator taken to Tx. wildlife refuge

Texas Residents noticed an almost 9.5-foot/ 2.9 metre reptile soaking up some rays on Lake Jackson sidewalk - the alligator didn’t lunge at any residents and it wasn’t agitated.

“He was just sunbathing on the sidewalk,” Humane Control Officer Kelli Jones said said. “He was just hanging out. He didn’t hurt anyone.”

Civic officers walked up to the alligator and tossed a rope around its neck, Jones said.

A wildlife refuge took the alligator off the humane officers hands.

Pet escapes croc's jaws

A woman last night told how her 30kg dog escaped the jaws of a 2 m/ 6 ft crocodile at a popular Cairns beach, sparking fears of another attack.

The Environmental Protection Agency last night sent a team of officers to the scene to try to find and remove the crocodile.

"It will be relatively easy to catch if it's in a billabong rather than in the open sea," officials said.

Crocodile attack changed his life

For most of us, it would be hard to pick a single defining moment in our life.

For John Megoliki, though, that's easy.

At age 6, a crocodile bit off his right arm.

It was an event that didn't just forever affect him in the obvious physical ways. It changed him spiritually and professionally. It led him to forsake an ordained-at-birth job - witch doctor for the village - and give up all that came with it.

His father and mother have died. He is responsible for raising his four younger siblings. But instead of taking the job that he was destined to have, he has plans to enter Mount Meru University, a Christian school in Tanzania, this fall.

He wants a career in electronics or perhaps business.

"My father was the witch doctor," he said, "but he couldn't save me from the crocodile."

Crocodile kills Ugandan chief

Ugandan Deo Mugerwa, 40, was killed by a crocodile after it first knocked down Mugerwa’s boat as he was fishing, before eating him as his nine-year-old son watched.

Officials attempted to capture the croc by “… setting two traps, one containing a dead dog and the other with a live dog. But the crocodiles only eat the live dog and fled.”

Why I shot my mate to save him from croc

Darwin crocodile farm worker Zac Fitzgerald has been hailed a hero for saving the life of his workmate, Jason Green, after he shot at the saltie that attacked Mr Green while they were out collecting eggs at Marrakai Station, about 120km east of Darwin.

Mr Fitzgerald said Mr Green had his back to him, blocking his shot at the attacking Saltwater Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus).

"I fired one shot in the hole when I got there - bang, no crocodile - then I fired the four shots at my mate and one at the crocodile as it took off,'' Mr Fitzgerald said.

Croc keeps low profile

The 400kg/880 lb croc unloaded in Cairns on Sunday is hidden away at an Environmental Protection Agency site in Cairns.

Staff are hosing down the animal, who absorbs moisture through his hide, regularly.

EPA staff may play music to the animal to make his stay more pleasant could not say what would be on top of the playlist.

Statue of runaway croc put up in Azov Sea city

A statue of a crocodile which ran away from its tamer during a show on the Azov Sea beach and lived for several months on the loose has been erected at the Ukrainian sea port of Mariupol.

The small bronze statue of the reptile was ordered by a local cafe owner and put in front of the building. Its basement bears an inscription: "To Godzik of Mariupol."

Life of luxury awaits king croc

A “monster” crocodile, dubbed Croczilla is off to a life of luxury, fine dining, and his own harem of female croc company.

The aggressive rogue bull crocodile - weighing in at 500kg/1,100 lbs and 4m/13 ft long - arrived by barge in Cairns yesterday after it was trapped stalking school children last week.

Unknown to the saltwater predator, he escapes the more unsavory fate of being turned into a (albeit rather large) leather handbag and shoe collection by virtue of his sex.

The big bull instead faces a life of luxury dining on fish, chicken and pork and will share his pen with up to four female partners at a time.

What? It's not a fake croc?

A 3 metre/9 foot Singapore crocodile went for a walk along a Malacca merchants’ road. The crocodile, which is believed to have crawled out of a nearby reservoir, grew alarmed by the growing crowd of onlookers.

It started swaying and swiped a neighbouring shop's aluminium gate with its tail and then it made its escape - by slowly 'walking up' the stairs of a two-storey shophouse.

The officer in charge of the operation immediately dispatched five 'crocodile heroes' to the scene.

The crocodile was taken to the Malacca Zoo yesterday.
