LIVE APPEARANCE SAFETY
CONSIDERATIONS
Safety is always a prime concern for any
event, especially when animals, such as dogs or cats, or even
exotic-type animals are used. Your concern regarding your live
appearance program, as presented by Crocodopolis, is taken
seriously and we’d like to share some thoughts with you about
it. Here are a few points to consider:
♦
Crocodopolis (aka The Bridgeworth Company) is the leader in reptile presentation
safety. We and a few other presenters of reptiles in the
industry have refined this form of animal presentation to the
effect that no injury to a member of the public by a smaller,
interactive-sized crocodilian, to our knowledge, has ever
occurred. An alligators’ snout is taped, rendering a bite
impossible and the tape is not removed until the animal leaves
the event location; this method does not harm the animals and it
is able to breathe freely through its nostrils. Furthermore,
only smaller, size-appropriate animals are used for interactions
in which the public enjoys a hands-on experience.
♦ It
is in Crocodopolis’ highest interest to observe the strictest
safety standards since, were someone to be injured, it would
likely diminish or end the company’s reputation, and thus, our
business. Dupont’s flagship public program is Living Among
Alligators, and public safety educational initiative regarding
human-animal conflict. This program is one that Crocodopolis
tours Florida with and has presented on television, and it would
be a great conflict of message if our animal-handling team did
not observe the highest safety standards. Handlers attend the
animals throughout the entire event and monitor and control
guests’ interactions with them in a pleasant, engaging manner.
♦
Crocodopolis enjoys an outstanding safety record and the
intimate direction and authority of Israel Dupont; as Director
of the company he is recognized for his safety and risk
management practices (even as a consultant worldwide) and he
personally trains all employees and volunteers.
♦
The likelihood of a guest being harmed by a dog brought
to an event by a guest is far,
far greater than that of being harmed by a small alligator with
its mouth sealed and under constantly-controlled conditions.
Even the likelihood of a guest slipping and falling at an event
(and even dying as a result) is far greater.
♦
Crocodopolis is monitored and regulated by the Florida Fish
& Wildlife Conservation Commission. Learn more about the
Commission at
